What is

GEOACCESSIBILITY?

Geoaccessibility is about making geographic data and mapping tools more inclusive, intuitive, and effective.

It makes sure we’re considering diverse perspectives, like those from health and gender equity fields.

Most importantly, it is a framework to make maps work for everyone.

Below are the steps of this framework (The ACCESS-Solutions Model)

ASSESS

COLLECT

Identify potential barriers to access (wage, class, wheelchair access, etc.).

CHART

Gather your data through partnerships or fieldwork. Ensure it has a location element!

EXAMINE

Map your data! You can rely on free tools like Google MyMaps, or can contact Prescient Solutions to create the perfect map for you.

SPOT

Look for any patterns in the data that may be visible in the map. Don't forget that having no pattern can also be a pattern!

SUMMARIZE

Identify potential causes of the barriers - these will serve as the first actionable steps to removing the barrier.

Reflect on your process, carefully consider the community you are researching and ensure that you have not overlooked an "X" factor.

SOLUTIONS

With your map and theories, you are now ready to create actionable steps toward breaking down the barriers you have studied.
